Copyediting and proofreading services tailored to your needs.

Not really sure what you’re after?

Perhaps your book is an exciting bundle of ideas in need of a good developmental editor. Maybe you’re at the typesetting stage… but you need someone to tell you what that means. Or maybe you’re procrastinating in denial, and what you actually need is a ghostwriter.

Fretting about handing over your manuscript? Don’t worry — our lines of communication will remain open. If at any point you recall an earlier idea, have a sudden epiphany, or choose to change direction, shoot me an email or we can hop on a call. It’s your thing (do what you gotta do)!

Whether you already know you want me or you’re just feeling a bit lost, you may as well take advantage of your free consultation. Book in now so we can get your project moving in the right direction.

Pricing

How do you charge?

Writing projects come in all shapes and sizes. To put a price on your project, we’ll need to establish its length and how heavy an edit (i.e., how much work) it requires. We’ll also factor in variables such as subject matter, audience, and turnaround time. I’m open to conversations about wage-gap based discounts.

Okay, but can you give me a ball-park estimation?

Below are some example prices taken from projects I’ve worked on.

Length (in words) Service Subject matter Turnaround time Other considerations Price (USD)
20,000 Structural editing Self help 10 business days Two rounds needed $1,000
40,000 Heavy copyediting Environmental science 10 business days English was the author's second language. $1,900
50,000 Light proofreading Business 72 hours Very quick turnaround needed. $1,200
2,400 Copywriting Travel blog 24 hours Included referencing and fact-checking. $400

Why don’t you have an hourly rate?

I don’t tend to charge by the hour. Hourly rates reward inefficiency, can lead to mismatched expectations, and can vary wildly depending on the project. To get an idea of budget, take a look at the above table or get in touch.

How long will it take to edit my project?

How long does it take to build a house? Copyediting a 40,000-page manuscript could take 15 hours if it’s already in good shape, or 45 hours if it still needs a lot of TLC. I will provide a timeline for your project after a consultation. A sample edit (which I offer for projects larger than 2,000 words) will also give us a good indication of the expected turnaround time.

How do I know the quality of your work will reflect the price?

Depending on the size of the project, I will offer a sample edit so you can decide if you’re happy with the standard. If your project is too small for a sample edit (I wouldn’t usually offer one for anything shorter than 2,000 words), look to my testimonials for an idea of the quality of my work.

Let’s get your project moving in the right direction.
